The chairs are done!

We finished staining and sealing the chairs. Now we can enjoy them around the table. This is the first time we've had 10 matching dining room chairs!

Fall in Vermont

The air is getting crisp and the trees are showing some color. We all know what comes next. Our harvest of winter squash and pumpkins.

We are blessed to have a great crop of raspberries every fall. We have picked these berries during snow flurries in the past. Hopefully that won't happen this year. They are so sweet!

Vacation in Maine

We spent a restful vacation in Maine this past week. We walked the beach, biked to Nubble Light, bought our favorite candy at York, and tried to keep warm! It was a little on the chilly side. Some of the younger kids went into the water, but I only got my feet wet. The campfire was a favorite spot. HEAT!

Putting up the tarp in case of rain, but none came.

This is our 1965 Nimrod pop-up camper. Kevin and his family used to go camping in it. We have joked about how ugly it is, but it sure is dependable. Our other camper is a 2004.

Cold Atlantic Ocean!

The pickup is filled with 8 bicycles and 6 boxes of fire wood.

Hannah having fun.

Max

Max can sleep in the weirdest positions.

Two birthdays in one

We celebrated Sarah and Nathanael's birthdays together this year. Nathanael was in CA for his 17th birthday, so we decided to open gifts and have cake on the same days. They opened their gifts on Saturday.
And had cake on Sunday! After the Patriots won their game. Yeah! Nathanael had a Holstein torte (on the left), and Sarah had a chocolate cake with chocolate filling and whipped cream frosting. Both were very good and fattening.

Nathanael and Sarah were born at the busiest time of the year. We are usually right in the middle of canning the garden produce. They are both a great blessing to this family.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

This is an amazingly busy week for us. Not only do Rachel and Nathanael come home very early Thursday morning, but we also have garden produce to can, a birthday project to complete, the fair to attend, a belated birthday to celebrate (Nathanael's), Sarah's birthday to celebrate on Saturday and a wedding to attend on Saturday. It is not a boring season for us.
